ShelfMbuy Privacy Policy

Last updated: 5 September 2026

ShelfMbuy (“the app”) is an offline-first household inventory assistant. This policy describes what data we collect when you use the iOS or Android app, why we collect it, and how you can delete it.

Data we collect

On this device only (no account required). Inventory, shopping lists, photos you attach to items, and notification preferences are stored in a local database on your phone or tablet. That data stays on the device until you sign in and choose to share a household.

If you sign in with Google. We receive your Google account email and a stable user ID so we can create a household, show who is signed in, and sync the shared list. We do not receive your Google password.

If household sync is on. Categories, items, shopping rows, and item photos are stored in our cloud project (Supabase, Tokyo region) and shared with other members of that household. Photos are stored as JPEG files, not in the inventory tables.

Barcode lookup. When you scan a code we do not already know, the app may query Open Food Facts and UPCitemdb to fill in a product name. Those services receive the barcode, not your Google account.

Notifications. Low-stock, expiry, and shopping-list reminders are local notifications on the device. We do not send push messages through Apple or Google servers.

How we use data

We use this information only to run the app: sign-in, household sharing, inventory sync, photos, and reminders. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for advertising or tracking across other companies’ apps.

Account deletion

In the app, open Settings → Shared inventory → Delete account. That permanently deletes your cloud account, removes you from the household, and (if you were the last member) deletes that household’s cloud inventory and photos. Inventory already saved on this device is not erased.
